Farm Bill Signed – Is a Disaster Bill Next?
Colorado Corn | December 21, 2018
Yesterday afternoon, President Trump signed the “Agriculture Improvement Act of 2018” also known as the 2018 Farm Bill. The compromise bill received broad support, and according to experts, the most votes of any farm bill in history.
“On the heels of a tough year for many Colorado farmers, the bill is likely being met with mixed reviews for farmers hit with natural disasters,” stated CCGA President Dave Eckhardt. “We certainly appreciate the long hours put forth by the House and Senate Agriculture committees and to the congressional leaders who helped get this across the finish line. With the bill signed, we will keep working with other organizations, the Administration, and Congress to put a disaster program in place to assist farmers struck by hail, drought, and other weather related events not covered by crop insurance.”
In case you missed them, here’s a second look at the summary of provisions in the 2018 Farm Bill of interest to grain corn farmers.
